I have been an animal lover my whole life; raising cats, dogs, wild birds, rabbits and even a squirrel. Horses have been the love of my life and I have spent nearly 30 years caring for them and learning everything I can about them.

I received early instruction via the US Pony Club which drives home safety and the needs of the horse before your own. That belief has stayed with me (ask my husband!) and to this day I am proud to have healthy, happy horses (see some of their pictures on my pictures page).

My farm and business name is based on two of the best horses I have ever had the pleasure to know. Laddie, a big boned and gentle hearted thoroughbred and Bucky, my first horse and one of the smartest (and sometimes craftiest) Quarter Horses I've worked with or owned. I combined their names together as a tribute to them as they will always live on in my memory. Laddie passed at 30 years old from cancer and Bucky passed at 29 from a neurological disorder.

Bucky taught me to ride by the seat of my pants and Laddie taught me finesse. I've competed in many events over the course of my riding career; everything from western pleasure and barrel racing to hunt seat, equitation, show jumping and eventing. My favorite (and Laddie's) was show jumping and I had the pleasure and honor of being the captain of our Pony Club's show jumping team which won at Regional and finished second at Nationals.

Now I spend more time teaching my horses to be calm and quiet, rather than racing around jumping, working on creating reliable trail horses. I am currently retraining a young thoroughbred off the track for dressage. Currently, we have two German shepherds (one raised from a pup and the other a rescue), six cats (all but one were drop offs or rescues), three horse and two ponies. I also board a few horses.

I enjoy taking care of horses, dogs, cats and any kind of animal I can be around. I am very experienced in handling medical emergencies and remain calm in most situations. I am able to recognize when an animal is not well and when veterinary attention is needed. I understand the dietary and metabolic differences between horse breeds and also how to avoid bloat in dogs.  I'm comfortable with large breed dogs and shy cats and usually manage to befriend them all. I have cared for cats and dogs requiring daily medication for heart and thyroid conditions as well as diabetes. I have administered subcutaneous and intramuscular shots in horses, cats and dogs.

I'd be pleased to help you take care of you horse or pet and can assure you they would be in good hands!
